Bored in the house, in the house bored? Well, you can now put your artistic skills to the test during this MCO in this SMG Water You Doing? comic strip contest.

This contest is asking everyone of us to use the quiet time imposed on us to reflect on the state of our rivers and show how we can be more responsible river guardians for a better tomorrow.

Organised by Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB), the company appointed by the Selangor State Government as the master developer to implement key activities for the rejuvenation of Klang River, the contest asks you to convey your thoughts by tackling one of three subjects:

  1. Stop River Pollution

  2. Be A River Guardian

  3. Clean River, Our Future

Since last month, we have been seeing an increase of new types of rubbish in our rivers, namely face masks, disposable gloves and mini hand sanitiser bottles, in addition to disposable food packaging, beverage cartons and packaging and plastic bottles,” explained LLSB’s Managing Director Syaiful Azmen Nordin.

While the new items are deemed necessary for personal safety and hygiene as advised by the Ministry of Health, we all need to also practice the proper disposal methods. These items should be thrown into bins and not discarded indiscriminately, where they can end up in drains that eventually flow into rivers, thereby contributing to river pollution. The SMG Water You Doing? contest hopes to remind all of us of the importance of keeping our rivers healthy while we stay safe.

The contest requires participants to post their comic strip submission on their Instagram account with the hashtag #SMGWaterYouDoing BEFORE 22 April 2020. Entries can be hand-drawn or digitally created in colour or black & white within one to five frames.

LLSB is rewarding popular comic strips with cash prizes of RM2,000 for 1st place, RM1,000 for 2nd place and RM500 for 3rd place, as well as 10 consolation prizes of RM100 each.
